The VT Project: Part 2
I purchased a new VT female yesterday. Still in quarantine in treated water. Conditioning was started immediately. The female will be bred to a metallic PK male.
In future, another pair will be bought. whether it will be a VT male/PK female pair or another PK male/VT female pair, that is left to be decided.
whatever the case, maintaining the 2 rays is paramount.
As far as show standards, Joep van Esch of Bettas4All.nl wrote an article about his Bettas4All standards as a proposal for new standards for all tail forms, including VT. The article can be found on Victoria Stark's site BettySplendens.com. Here is the link: http://www.bettysplendens.com/articles/page.imp?articleid=4074
In Europe, VTs at shows are still a regular occurance, as well as Asia. but as usual, over here in the west, alot of VT enthusiasts are still just blowing alot of hot air. There is only one person that I know of that has firmly established VT lines, with college team color combos to boot!
I've always loved VTs and intend on starting my own line for my own pleasure. Whether an IBC-sanctioned VT class even "dares" to officially show its head or not, I'll have mine.
